Sustainability at DIPS

"We are using resources as if we had two planets, not one. There can be no 'plan B' because there is no 'planet B.'" ~Ban Ki-moon

Sustainability at DIPS

Sustainability means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In addition to natural resources, we also need social and economic resources. Sustainability is not just environmentalism. Embedded in most definitions of sustainability we also find concerns for social equity and economic development.

Our Sustainability Committee values our indispensable position as educators in motivating our students to connect with the natural world around them. Connections promote a sense of care and responsibility and ultimately a drive to protect.

At DIPS we understand that Educating for Sustainability (EfS) involves a deep understanding and awareness of the interconnectedness and dependency of our social, economic and environmental systems. DIPS, therefore, is adopting a whole school approach to Educating for Sustainability.

DIPS aims to obtain the International Green Flag award in 2024 through working on the eco-schools program.
